From the 1st September 2022 a new revised framework has been in place. This will continue to act as guidance for supporting your children, but with the added bonus of allowing the staff to do what they do best and that is to get to know your children without having to record every moment they spend with them. This guidance allows staff the freedom to spend valuable, productive time with your child supporting and extending what they already know and building on this.
Monitoring systems will still be in place to ensure every child is reaching their unique potential and regular conversations with parents will be arranged to share progress both at home and at pre-school.
Staff will have a choice of guidance to use and these are: -
Development matters and Birth to five. Both of these documents support the curriculum delivered by the pre-school.
We have decided to use sections from each which will provide us with a wider range of materials as guidance.

Our curriculum is simply we want all of our children to learn life skills which will set them up to be inquisitive, keen and confident learners, ready for their journey at school to continue. We have set our our curriculum so it looks at each area and identifies what we as teachers can provide to support each child's learning.
The over-riding principle for Highfield Pre-School is that every child is unique and learns at their own pace – we place great importance in our Key Worker System where each child will have a key worker who will get to know your child and your family, and will learn how best to support and encourage your child as they settle in to attending Highfield.
